Being the owners of four dogs, we totally understand that for many a holiday without the "fur kids" is no holiday at all. Therefore Coleridge which has a private hot tub and open fires is a totally dog friendly cottage and we welcome up to 3 dogs and possibly more on request. So whether you dream of a luxury self-catering coastal break with strolls along dog-friendly beaches and up on the open moors, or a luxury weekend in this enchanting hideaway where you and the "fur kids" can truly get back to nature, Coleridge will delight both you and your pets. If you don't have dogs, please do not worry Coleridgeis not a "kennel." We pride ourselves on a very high standard of house keeping hence the large number of house-keepers we have.
Please explore life at Coleridge from a dogs POV using the drop down boxes below.
It is often difficult to find a truly luxurious cottage which will accept dogs, let alone more than one. You live in a lovely home, why would you want to go on holiday to a place that is less comfortable than your own home.
Both you and your dogs want to be spoilt on your holidays - that is after all why you work as hard as you do, so can you can take wonderful holidays in beautiful luxury dog friendly cottages and be able to enjoy exploring new places together. This was why we built Greenway and tailored it to fit the needs of both the two and four footed guests.
Dogs being so intelligent know exactly where they are welcome and where they are not. At our luxury pet friendly cottage our canine guests seem to settle in to their new "home" quickly as they understand that it is a place that loves having them to stay. On arrival, if they look on the dinning table (and please don't tell them as it will ruin the surprise) they will find little gifts and a welcome card waiting for them from our dogs. The local pet food shop can deliver your own brand food to your luxury holiday home, which will save you car space. If your dogs like to sit on the sofas, that is no problem, all we ask is that you bring lots of blankets to cover them. We do ask that dogs do not go onto the beds. The linen and bed covers are very expensive and imposible to remove dog hair from.
With wall to wall underfloor heating and a lovely log burning stove to lounge in front of, there is no better place for a dog who has been out busy exploring the local pet friendly beaches and moors.
One of the joys of being on holiday at this romantic luxury self-catering Coleridge Cottage in Somerset, is that the garden not only sizable but are also completely enclosed so the dogs can have fun exploring while you relax. We would never say the garden is completely secure - where there is a will and all that. But over the years we have had many canine guests both small and large and the gardens have contained them.
From the pet friendly enclosed gardens the Quantock Hills are literally steps away and with over 9,500 acres you and the dogs can have days of exploring without ever having the need to cross your tracks or use your car.
For those who have mud loving woofies, worry not, there are hot and cold outside taps, a doggie bath and a shower - how cool is that!
Kilve beach which is at the bottom of the lane is dog friendly year round, as are all of the other beaches in Somerset. What could be more fun than staying in a truly luxury cottage which is pet friendly and strolling along beaches looking for fossils or rambling along the beautiful cliff tops just drinking in the fantastic views. For long stretches of sandy beaches Blue Anchor and Dunster beach are close by.
With the Quantock Hills which is an AONB and SSSI area quite literally at the end of your garden you and the dogs can abandon your car for the duration of your stay if you so choose. The Quantocks which are a mosaic of heathland hill tops and stunning valley woodlands will keep even the most energetic of dog busy exploring for weeks. Return to your luxury pet friendly cottage at the end of each days exploration and sink into your own private hot tub, while the fur kids relax their muscles in front of the open fire and dream of what adventures tomorrow will hold for them.
The majority of pubs in Somerset are very dog friendly. While you refuel on delicious local fayre and sample the extraordinarily good beers and cider that Somerset is so famous for, the fur kids will probably have to settle for a bowl of water and some gravy bones, but once back at their luxurious dog friendly home on the Quantocks, who knows what treats await them!
There is nothing quite as comforting as watching the four footed family members dozing in front of a real wood burning fire at the end of a busy and fun day of exploring a new area with their human parents. This was exactly the reason why we fitted a log burner in Coleridge (just in case you thought it might be for your comfort!!)
